feeling inspired.

The gears are churning in my head and blood is coursing through my veins. With the realization that I'll be able to get my hands on HD much quicker than originally thought, all types of ideas are swarming in my head about shorts that I will be compiling. I think tonight I'm going to start storyboarding ideas and look up locations that I would like to shoot at. I'm hoping that the T2i will be released before the first weekend of March so I can take it out with Ixquel, rent some lenses for the weekend, and just do a solo session of her.

However, with high definition video comes the need for more processing power, so I'm currently looking into a Mac Pro setup. The quad-core, octo-core setups are amazing to me. I think that once I acquire both, I'll be more determined to head out and start filming projects that I have had to put on hold.

7D vs T2i

So I'm selling all of my old camera gear (Canon GL1, Rebel 2000 and accessories) and entering the world of HD. Most recently, I had decided that between the 5D MKII and the 7D I would get the latter because of slow motion capabilities, that the frame size is close to that of 35mm film, and that it was significantly less expensive. That is until I've started reading about the Canon EOS Rebel T2i (also known as the 550D).

Marketed as an entry-level DSLR, the video capabilities of the T2i pretty much mirror that of the 7D, but in the realm of still images, the 7D still reigns supreme over the T2i. However, seeing as how I am more concerned about the video aspects of the camera, those advantages don't really pertain to me. What's even more great about the T2i is that it retails at half the price of the 7D at just $799. I bet I can score it off eBay for about $50-100 less if I hunt around.

Here are the specs to the T2i and some links to photos and videos shot with it:

Overall, I think I'm pretty sold on it, so I'm going to hold on to the earnings from my old camera and purchase the T2i! I can't wait to start shooting with it!
