About Her (A Short)

I'm currently working on my first short film, fittingly titled, About Her. Right now, I'm in the process of script writing and plan to start shooting next weekend until the first week of November. From there it's strictly editing and I'll have a final product mid-December. Check back for teasers and sneak peeks til then!

Here's a quick synopsis:

This film captures a tragic romance between two women named Kavita and Isabella. The story is depicted through the use of hip-hop culture references to show these women met, the passion they shared for that culture, which in turn, fed the passion for one another, their falling out, and the reminiscing of better times. Kavita, the main character through whom the story is told, is a DJ and a B-Girl. Her lover, Isabella, is a performer and a spoken word artist. Kavita embodies the raw and rough spectrum of hip hop which she demonstrates through her dancing style, her DJing and graffiti. Isabella brings the quiet, reserved poetry inspired angle, but portrays the depth that comes with that solemness as she performs her spoken word pieces. Their falling out occurs as a result of lack of communication through verbalization by Isabella and through Kavita's perpetual struggle of finding compromise between patience and desire.

Hope you all will enjoy the short when it hits.

Stay up!
Melinda
